From my background in education I enjoy the chance to introduce and encourage people in this art form, building their confidence to produce pieces of work.
I have found that working with clay can be both therapeutic and relaxing. Most aspects of production can not be rushed but performed in a considered and purposeful manner, leading to a calm enjoyable experience.
I offer a variety of courses; intense One-to-One, specific production methods or three night residential involving in depth tuition in all aspects of pottery. Numbers are strictly limited to small numbers so yo receive individual attention.
One-to-One: I originally designed these courses for complete novices to pottery but I can easily tailor the format to suit those with some experience. Generally covering a complete day and broken into two sections. Firstly we cover aspects of hand building such as pinch/thumb pots and coiling. The second section is devoted entirely to 'mastering' wheel thrown pottery. A light lunch is included as well as tea/coffee. I will biscuit and glaze fire all pieces produced in readiness for you to collect. £125 including All Materials, refreshments & lunch.
Decoration & Glazing: Following the initial One-to -One course, I can fire your creations but you can return to decorate and glaze your pieces yourself. As I have fair less involvement in this process the fee is reduced. I will glaze fire all pieces and contact you to collect. £75 including all materials & refreshments.
Specific Production Methods: This is designed to expand your skill in any production method, guidance will be given to achieve positive results. Two hours studio time per week for a four week period ,minimum of four weeks booking. (dates to be mutually agreed). £100 or £25 per session including all materials.
All course include materials including clay, under glazes and glazes. For Day and residential courses any pottery produced will be fired and glazed in your choice of glaze. All refreshments included. Finished Glazed items can be collected by prior arrangement. An additional delivery fee will be charged if unable to collect in person.
